In recent years, there has been a notable trend in podiatry where many podiatrists are no longer offering routine foot care services. This shift has created a gap in the accessibility of basic foot care for individuals in the community. Foot Care Nurses have stepped in to fill this void, providing essential services that contribute to the overall health and well-being of the population.
Foot Care Nurses are healthcare professionals who specialize in providing comprehensive care for the feet. Their scope of practice encompasses a wide range of toenail services, including preventive care, assessment, treatment, and education related to foot health. These nurses often work with individuals who have diabetes, vascular conditions, arthritis, or other medical issues that affect the feet.
We are Nurses
at Heart
We are not trying to replace Podiatrists and other Physicians. We are trying to be their clinical associates. We exam the feet that others overlook. That allows us to make referrals for the more advanced care that the Physicians can provide. And by performing the "routine care" on senior and high risk feet, we not only recognize and refer problems, we can help keep the feet healthier and prevent problems.
